About Osteoporosis
As people age, bones become thinner and weaker. Healthy bone growing occurs by
the formation of new bone alternating with the breakdown of old bone in our
bodies. Osteoporosis appears when more bone is broken down than is being formed.
This results in thin, fragile bones, especially affecting the spine.
Osteoporosis is a slow process, most often affecting women.
